Possible Elemental Sword Farm HM
People keep saying Shambling Mesa and Sandstorm Crag drop elemental swords,
but no one has confirmed it. So I decided to look into it for myself. Here I found
around 15-20 of them right outside of Basalt Grotto. There is 4 total mobs that are
farmable, 2 in the center, one to the north wastes, and one in the south wastes.
This is a standard 55 build, except I put in Fleeting Stability for the Mesas.
Attributes:
Smiting Prayers - 12+3
Protection Prayers - 6+3+1
Divine Favor - 7+3
Earth Prayers - 9
Skills:
Protective Spirit
Shielding Hands
Fleeting Stability
Mystic Regeneration
Shield of Judgement
Kirin's Wrath
Blessed Aura
Balthazar's Spirit
Equipment:
Max radiant armor with 5 superior runes
Totem Axe or equivalent
-50 Grim Cesta
Long or Flat Bow
Here is a little map of the area with a few markers on it:
X-Possible Mandragor pop ups
Blue Dots-Farmable Mesa/Crag Mobs
Start by exiting out of Basalt Grotto into Joko's Domain. Soon as you exit, set up
your enchants, and head south. Be careful to hug the wall while going down the
hill to avoid the Mandragor pop-ups. Before engaging the mobs, put up Proc Spirit,
and Fleeting Stability. As soon as you aggro the first mob, cast Mystic Regeneration,
followed by SoJ. Use Shielding Hands if you are starting to take to much spike
damage, and make sure you keep up your enchantments. The Mesas will fall pretty
quick, and the Crags should follow pretty soon afterwards. Sometimes you might have
to recast SoJ to take them out.
After mobs are cleared in the center, head north to the wastes. You should be able to pull
the mob of Mesas and Crags out with your bow. Just aggro them, and pull them out of the
wastes and take them down like the first mob.
Theres another mob south,in the 2nd part of the wastes, however, Mandragors pop
up more than half the time and kill you right before you reach the wastes.
Drops are pretty decent, Desolation Mauls and Swords, Ancient Items, and a bunch of purples. No ele sword yet.

Nice build one dude. A little slow for my liking, but it works. I have now demolished countless dozens of crags, and not one ele sword yet Will continue for a few more hours... but I've been chasing this rumour for a few weeks now and haven't seen anything.

No. While in the wurm form you have better armor against physical attacks but elemental attacks deal more damage, so you can take out the Mesas with the wurm but Crags will eat you alive, especially in Hardmode. Also to get into the wurm form you have about a 50% chance to draw that first Mandragor pop up group.
Let me know if you ever find an Elemental Sword there, I farm that area quite often for Ardeh's Daggers and I have yet to see an Elemental Sword drop, but I do it with the "kill all but boss and flag henches" strategy in the wurm form.

ive never seen an elemental sword drop myself, but i know theyre meant to drop in chests by sandstorm crags, but ive ran lots of chests in the shattered ravines in the desolation by crags and never had one.
Also a guildy of mine had an elemental sword drop from a graven monolith in the sulfurous wastes in HM. just thought id say that to try and help maybe.

I can't think of a single reason to use watchful spirit if you're packing Mystic Regeneration. Its like bringing a Handgun to a fight while having a small swiss army knife on your back pocket.
Get another smiting skill instead?

I did runs on elementals in Poisoned Outcrops but without any results, considering the enemies are closer packed together here, I'll join the team ^^

In the words of Louis CK, "I'm a loser, I got nothing better to do".
Count me in for at least 50 runs.
